Who we are: Hétágfa *Seven Branch Tree We’d describe Hétágfa rather as a wide community than an official organisation of a handful of people. For these people everyday life itself is rather narrow and can only become meaningful as a bigger unity. Since part of this unity is being connected with nature, we dreamed of and created this education trail with much excitement. We have been having programmes in Pécs since 2014, and in 2016 we finally started to build our base here in nature. We are newcomers here, who are operating an eco garden, hiding in a beautiful area, and a community space in the vineyard of Kistótfalu, called the Hétágfa Liget - which you will be able to visit as the last stop of the educational trail. We’d be happy to see you on our organised tours and other programmes! www.facebook.com/hetagfa · hetagfa.weebly.com
Hetagfa nature trail
Hétágfa Nature Trail This special educational path leads from Kistótfalu to the Hétágfa Grove, while touching the typical areas of the region: pasture, streamside, forest, arable land. The length of the trail is 2.5 km (1.6 miles), with a short walk uphill only at the very end, but the wonderful view is absolutely worth it. It has been known for thousands of years that the health of body and mind can only be accomplished while being in harmony with nature itself. The five stops, which are based on the five elements, are meant to help us connect with nature and guide our focus towards the possibility of viewing this world differently - with us in it. At this ‘point’ on this Earth our purpose is to develop our surroundings with our awareness and knowledge - on every level. With the help of the outside world we get the chance to organise and charge our inner one. We’d like to help the children through exploration, games and tales, and the adults through elaboration, relaxation and creation to discover the extent of themselves, and to create a stronger bond when it comes to their relationship with nature.
The *Seven Branches Nature Trail APP* is now available in Hungarian, it will be available in English soon!
Download it for free and start your adventure! This content gives you the intellectual charge and practical info for the beautiful natural environment, on-site installations and games. For Android: https://bit.ly/32GVZrO For iOS: https://bit.ly/35JGj9g
Where you can find the trail: You can find the Hétágfa nature trail in the northern lobby of the Villány Wine Region, starting in Kistótfalu. MAP The beauty of Kistótfalu is given by its location in nature, wide variety of plants and the deserted cellars. On top of this, it is a much calmer place than the frequently visited tourist attractions of Mecsek. The flow of history didn’t go easy on this village either, therefore the villagers had built up their village on for different spots over the past millennium. The people never escaping further away is a perfect symbol of the loyalty to the area and the unity of its people. Here you can find the very first community wall painting where the trails starts.
What you can find on the nature trail:
A creatively built, interactive tour is awaiting you, in which nature is not just a palette of knowledge, but a lively agent, a source of life energy. The five stops, based on the five elements are meant to help your connection with nature - this is the soul of this educational trail, its uniqueness.
The Hétágfa Educational Trail can be visited in two ways:
as an interactive hike for a group / family
or as a ‘solitary’, quiet retreat
The stops had been built on the analogy of the basic elements of nature (earth, water, wood, air, fire), because through them we are able to get to know the world around us, and to raise awareness about the processes of life.
The educational trail includes five thematics, these are independent from each other. It is not possible nor worth it to try and take all of them in simultaneously. At every stop you can find the following thematics, choose from these the one that is the most suitable for you:
THE SPIRIT OF THE PLACE The story of Kistótfalu exceeds much more than its current borders, we’d like to give you a taste of this rich story. We are looking for the imprint of the people who have lived here, are still living here, and we want to show this to you in the nature. The MINI NATURE PALETTE will show you interesting local facts and provides you with insight into the pantry of nature, giving tips about edible wild plants.
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS To us protecting the environment is not a fashion statement. We view ourselves as part of nature, therefore we can only handle the question with responsibility. We are trying to hide some practical advice in your haversack regarding actively protecting the environment.
TALE-TRAIL This interactive path is waiting for children, families, groups, with installations and playful puzzles. The grown ups can play here just as carelessly, there is no CCTV around, so embrace your child-self! Children, please take care of the adults! ;-)
NATURE-ART TRAIL This thematic trail is the opportunity to become one with nature on a creative level, to experience creative freedom, where nature itself can be your muse and your ingredient. On this trail you’ll find the eternal/evanescent imprints of nature art, but you can become and active creator yourself.
LIFE-FORCE TRAIL This trail has a ’fill in the gap’ theme, which contains three parts: yoga exercises that can be done outside, meditation, and questions about organising life. You can gather strength with the support of nature and by completing the exercises. This trail was created with the aim of concentration, to be walked as a quiet retreat, therefore it is not meant for children, but for self-conscious youngsters and adults.
Practical information You can download the English application soon
The information on the educational trail signs is just a small taste of the full content. The full text can be found here, using our self-developed application which you can read in advance, even before starting your journey. Opening the app does not require internet. We don’t want you get distracted at the location by the web, enjoy the luxury of being offline!
You can meet the thematics at each and every stop. It is not worth it to try and take in everything simultaneously. Choose first which one you are interested in and only do that one at the time.
The Life-ForceTrail is worth to be chosen to be done without any combinations, as this is the only way deep relaxation is possible to achieve.
The educational trail can be walked independently, any time, but if you are in the mood to do it with a bigger group, personal guiding is available! We are holding regular guided tours. We provide information about this (and about our other programmes) on our community page, website. https://www.facebook.com/hetagfa/
Orientation: Check the map to see where the 2.5 km will lead you. The signs of the stops and road signs will help you read the final destination, so you won’t end up at the other side of the hill, in Máriagyűd (even though it is a magical place as well☺!) Google Maps
There is no hard part on this 2.5 km long trail, the expected travel time is 1.5 - 3 hours. Parking: Please leave your card between the recycle bins and the wall painting, on the side. (Please do not drive up to the Hétágfa Grove!)
Water: Please have a water bottle with you, this can be filled in the village using the public well (near the 1st and the 3rd stop), as after that you’ll find water only at the final destination.
We do recommend repellent against ticks and mosquitos, and to have weatherproof footwear!
Due to the animals you won’t be able to find a rubbish dump, so we’d like to ask you to clean up after yourself and to take the rubbish with you! Composting toilet can be found at the final destination.
Once the educational trail was finished, electric fence has been installed near the route. Please mind the fencing and take care of yourselves!
Everyone can use the installations that can be found at the stops at their own risk, children under 12 years of age only under parental supervision! The Hétágfa Organisation is not taking responsibility for possible accidents!
